First Defense Scour Bolus by ImmuCell is an oral bolus containing concentrated antibodies against the two most common infectious causes of neonatal calf scours — Escherichia coli K99 (enterotoxigenic E. coli) and bovine coronavirus. Administered orally to newborn calves within the first 12 hours of life, First Defense delivers targeted passive immunity directly to the GI tract, where it works locally to neutralize E. coli K99 and coronavirus before they can colonize and cause disease. Unlike colostrum, which provides systemic passive immunity, First Defense provides targeted local GI protection — making it a valuable complement to colostrum management in high-risk calving environments.
